Fork it Over For Food

Brand new ways for restaurants to Fork It Over for Food this September

 
Each September during Hunger Action Month, the Western Massachusetts restaurant industry unites in an extraordinary showing of solidarity called Fork It Over for Food. Since its launch in 2010, the campaign has brought together hundreds of restaurants and consumers to raise funds which have provided meals to our neighbors in need throughout the region.

This year’s Fork It Over for Food campaign is even more exciting than ever. We’ve expanded our “menu” of options for your restaurant to participate. Options include collecting donations from customers, hosting a one-time percent of sales night, or creating a signature drink. With all the new ways to participate in Fork It Over For Food, there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for you to showcase your commitment to the community. As a supporter of The Food Bank, your restaurant will be included in our promotional material throughout the month, including a link on our website and a listing in our monthly e-newsletter.

This campaign proves you can do more than simply feed people for a day — you can help end local hunger.
 
 

Ways to participate include:

the original ‘fork it over for food’
Collect donations from your patrons at the end of their meal by presenting an envelope (provided by The Food Bank) with their bill.
Participation options include one, two, three, or four weeks in September.

percent of sales day/night
Donate a percent of sales from a particular day, evening or event (such as a trivia night) at your restaurant. Per request, Food Bank donors, staff or volunteers can also be on-hand to help engage patrons in the cause.

round up ‘for change’
Ask customers to round up to the nearest dollar on their bill to benefit The Food Bank. This option is most successful when held over the course of a weekend or longer.

portion of proceeds from a menu item
Introduce a new menu item, a limited time offer, or promote a seasonal menu item. For example, throughout September, a portion of the proceeds from any burger will be donated to The Food Bank.

Orange is the color of Hunger Action Month. Why not “Go Orange” by creating a special Food Bank cocktail to show your support? The proceeds, or a portion of the proceeds, from the cocktail would benefit The Food Bank.
