Food Insecurity in Western Massachusetts

The Food Bank collects data from its own distributions as well as the distributions of its partner member agencies and meal sites to measure both the state of food insecurity and hunger in the region and our impact. To protect the privacy of community members seeking our services and to ensure comfort at distributions, we limit the questions asked to a person’s town of residency, the number of people in their household, and the general age ranges of members of their household.

The map below can be sorted to show specific counties and towns, and tables with data in list form are available through the navigation tabs above the map. We recommend selecting a specific county before looking at the table views. Additional information on the data set can be found by selecting the tab furthest right, labeled “Information”

For a more in-depth look at our impact over the years, see our current and archived Annual Reports. To stay up-to-date on The Food Bank and its work in the region, subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter.
