The Food Bank works behind the scenes of nearly every charitable organization that provides food to people in need in western Massachusetts.

Our 400 member agency programs include soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, childcare centers, and elder programs throughout Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties.  Each year we distribute more than 6 million pounds of food to these agencies to help feed people in need.

Food manufacturers, wholesalers, supermarkets, and restaurants donate much of this food. We also distribute USDA commodities, food purchased through a state program, and fresh produce from our own community supported organic Food Bank Farm.

The Food Bank is one of more than 200 certified food banks that are affiliated with America's Second Harvest, a national network of food banks and food rescue programs.

How You Can Help

Give Time.
Each year, hundreds of people – retired professionals, working people, students, and others – contribute their time and talents.  Learn about volunteer opportunities.

Give Food.
Farmers, food manufacturers, caterers, supermarkets, bakeries, and college dining services donate food that might otherwise go to waste.  Learn how to donate food.

Give Money.
Every $1 donated to The Food Bank allows us to distribute $7 of wholesome food to a local soup kitchen or food pantry. You can make a donation online.
