Will Bike 4 Food fundraiser brings together Western Mass cyclists to build food security
Will Bike 4 Food,
presented by Stop & Shop, is an annual fundraiser for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Returning for our 16th year, this event welcomes cyclists of all ages and skill levels to pedal toward a hunger-free future.
THE IMPACT OF WILL BIKE 4 FOOD
WB4F is one of the Food Bank’s largest fundraisers of the year, and each $1 raised helps the Food Bank provide the equivalent of 3 nutritious meals to people in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties. An astounding 50% of people experience food insecurity in our region. This ride is about more than logging miles. Cyclists are part of a community that believes everyone deserves access to nutritious food without barriers or stigma.
Will you help us meet our goal of raising $300,000 this year?
HOW DOES WB4F WORK?
Will Bike 4 Food treats fundraising like a team sport. Participants 18+ commit to raising at least $200 (you have until October 15th!) and can form teams to accomplish their fundraising goal. Riders on the same team can select different routes to align with cycling experience, and kickoff times are staggered so all participants reconvene at the After Party from 2-5 p.m.
WB4F offers multiple routes, including:
- 4-mile Family Fun Ride
- 12-mile Ride
- 25-mile Quarter Century Ride
- 50-mile Half Century Ride
- 100-mile Century Ride
HOW DOES VIRTUAL WB4F WORK?
Not able to be with us in person but still want to support the Food Bank? Become a Virtual Rider! Teams have until Oct. 15 to meet their fundraising goal. Raise funds and log your miles on your mountain bike, your indoor cycle, or even unicycle. We want you with us however possible during Hunger Action Month in September! During registration, select “Virtual Rider” and follow the prompts.
Top Reasons to Join WB4F Virtually
- If you can’t attend the event on Sept. 20 but still want to fundraise
- If you are part of a team spread across a large geographic area
- If you prefer to cycle your own route – count the family bike ride, mountain biking trip, or the indoor cycle at the gym!
INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?
You don’t have to ride to play a part in this exciting event. We need parking attendants, water stop runners, finish line cheerleaders, route patrol in cars, cleanup crew, and more! Let Alison Sjoberg, Volunteer Coordinator at the Food Bank, know you’re ready to lend a hand by sending an email to alisons@foodbankwma.org.
