Team ‘Food For All’ Participates in the Leprechaun Plunge
On Sunday, March 10th, a team of dedicated staff members from The Food Bank braved the frigid waters of the Connecticut River to take part in the 10th Annual Leprechaun Plunge, an event that raises funds for selected local charities and takes place at Brunelle’s Marina in South Hadley.
As a member of Team Food for All, Amanda Reynolds, volunteer and community engagement coordinator at The Food Bank, raised pledges and prepared for the icy plunge well in advance.
“I was terrified to jump into the icy, cold river — the floating icebergs didn’t help,” she says. “But the excitement, collective spirit, and unity of everyone supporting a cause made [this] feel like something I could accomplish.”
With collective spirit and unity serving as motivation, Team Food for All raised over $3,000 for the Leprechaun Plunge. Their collective effort will provide over 9,000 meals for food-insecure households in western Massachusetts.
“There’s nothing that bonds a group of people like plunging into a snowy, frigid river to support charities they believe in,” Amanda adds.
Last year, The Leprechaun Plunge raised over $100,000 for local charitable organizations. The Food Bank is grateful to have been selected to participate in the event and would like to congratulate all teams for their fundraising efforts.
The Food Bank would also like to thank the following sponsors for supporting Team Food for All for All in the 10 Annual Leprechaun Plunge: Chikmedia, LiftTruck Parts & Service, Esselon Coffee Roasting, Shea Landscaping LLC, Applied Mortgage, the employees at Holyoke Credit Union, Village Eye Care, and The Polish National Credit Union.
