Statewide health care conversation will address solutions for hunger

On Tuesday, July 9, The Hunger to Health Collaboratory (H2HC) will host and facilitate “Mobilizing Health Care for Hunger”, a statewide convening of the Massachusetts health care community at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. This event will be a “cross-sector conversation with leading experts across Massachusetts on Whole-Person Care, Community of Practice and Innovation.” Congressman Jim McGovern (2nd District of Massachusetts) will serve as keynote speaker for the event.

Panelist Alan Dallmann, Hunger Solutions Innovator, and Nancy Robinson, Director of Operations at The Food Bank will share the work of the Coalition to End Hunger, a group of 40 western Massachusetts business, healthcare, non-profit, government, faith-based individuals, and organizations led by The Food Bank. The mission of the Coalition to End Hunger is “to raise public awareness about hunger and engage the public to learn about, explore and act on the magnitude of hunger across our region.”

“My hope,” says Alan Dallmann about this event, “is that having ongoing conversations with the health community about how best to serve the needs of a population will lead to both food security and improved health outcomes.”
