September is Hunger Action Month—An annual nationwide month of action to spread awareness and inspire everyone to join the movement to end hunger. Everyone’s voice, actions and commitment help ensure communities nationwide have the food they need to thrive. Every action―big or small―is one step closer to an America where no one is hungry.

Everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in America people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet 34 million people (1 in 10), including more than 9 million children (1 in 8), experience food insecurity in the U.S.

Orange is the color of hunger. This Hunger Action Day, September 15th, let’s stand together by wearing orange, and raising our voices all across the country on behalf of the millions of people facing hunger. Share your ‘Go Orange’ photos on social media with the tags @FeedingAmerica, #HungerAction, and #FoodBankWMA.

When people are fed, futures are nourished.

Join the movement to end hunger by donating, volunteering or advocating with the Food Bank.

Learn

Food insecurity and hunger can affect anyone. In our region alone, nearly 80,000 individuals are facing hunger or the threat of hunger. Look at Local Hunger Data to learn more about the impact these critical issues are having on your neighbors and the ways providing healthy food is critical community support.

Engage

The 13th Annual Will Bike 4 Food is taking place in-person and through a fun, new Ride & Seek challenge. Raise funds to provide healthy meals, then gather a team of friends and family or cycle alone for this outdoor event. You can also support local cyclists’ fundraising efforts, including Food Bank Executive Director, Andrew Morehouse!

Advocate

As a hunger advocate, you’ll communicate with legislators about local food security issues and urge them to provide the resources needed to help end hunger. By lending your voice, you can help create concrete and lasting solutions for hunger and related causes. Learn more

Donate

Make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor To The Food Bank. Every dollar you donate provides three healthy meals. If you are unable to donate traditionally, consider hosting a food drive or fundraiser or donating your time by volunteering.
