Project Hope Pantry and The Food Bank support those affected by shutdown
Maria Rivera, director of Project Hope Pantry in Chicopee, explains why they opened their doors on January 19, 2019 for a special distribution of free food to anyone affected by the federal government shutdown. Project Hope is a member agency of The Food Bank, and we provided them with over 3,000 pounds healthy food for this event.
“They’re the ones that provide first response. They’re the ones that provide water and food. Now the tables have turned, and they need help …we’re here today to do that,” Rivera says.
