“I never thought I’d be on this end of the spectrum, receiving food.”
Cathy is a TSA officer who works at Bradley Airport in Connecticut who was furloughed for five weeks during the January 2019 government shutdown. She shares her struggles as she worked to pay the bills and support her family. She relied on a Project H.O.P.E., member agency of The Food Bank, to help with groceries. It was her first trip to a food pantry.
“I never thought I’d be on this end of the spectrum, receiving food. It’s wonderful to know that there are so many people that want to help us everywhere,” she says.
