Core Strength Training Class Details

Core Strength for Cyclists

For cyclists riding at any mileage and frequency, this core class is designed to take your ride to the next level. You will learn important aspects in core strengthening applicable to cycling. This class and what you will take away will improve your posture on the bike, prevent typical cyclist aches, pains, and injuries and make your pedal stroke stronger and more powerful.

This is not your typical abs class, although we will perform exercises to strengthen all of those muscles. We will focus on core exercises to improve shoulder stability, core activation and strength endurance required for the contralateral push-pull of your leg and arm during pedaling, and address the balance between hip mobility and strength required to enjoy long rides and even improve your every day posture and functional movement.

It is helpful to have resistance bands and a relatively light weight (kettlebell, dumbbell, or even a sand- or water-filled water bottle), but these are not necessary. If you have a medium or large stability ball, that is an additional enhancement for the class.

Progressive Vinyasa Class Details

Participants will experience a sequence of Progressive Vinyasa classes over four weeks. Each week we will build on different aspects of the practice. Progressive Vinyasa yoga is an energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next, while connecting their breathing to their movements. It integrates strength, flexibility, balance, cardio, and physical and mental stamina in one session. Progressive vinyasa yoga incorporates regular sequences that become familiar to students, while mixing in variations to modify, intensify, or challenge the body by altering the pace or duration of poses, and the frequency that they are repeated.

Family Circus Workout Details

Show Circus Studio logoBored with your usual exercise routine? Want to burn off some energy with your family in a new, engaging way? Join us for Family Circus Workout! This fast-paced half hour class is designed for parents and children* to do together, although you definitely don’t need to bring a kid along to have fun and work up a sweat.

We’ll begin with some scarf juggling basics, then play a movement-based warm-up game, challenge ourselves with some exercise intervals while learning fun circus trivia, and finish with a brief cool-down and stretching. You don’t need much to join in, just enough space for all participants to lie down on the floor, a cushioned surface to work on such as carpeting or a yoga mat, and 2-3 juggling ‘scarves’ per participant (you don’t need to buy anything special–bandanas, cloth napkins, washcloths, and even tissues will work just fine.) We’ll see you at the circus!

*Designed for adults and children ages 6-10, but older and younger children are welcome to participate as well.

Fix-A-Flat Workshop Details

Are you ever worried heading out on a ride on your own that you’ll get a flat tire and be stuck in the middle of nowhere? Here’s your chance to learn a valuable (and surprisingly easy) skill that might just save you the walk of shame home one day!

During this clinic you will:

• Learn the parts of the wheel
• Learn the most common causes of flats
