Will Bike 4 Food
Since this annual ride to end hunger began in 2011, it has grown into one of the Pioneer Valley’s premier cycling events. This family-friendly fund and awareness raiser allows riders of all ages to choose from one of four scenic routes to help feed our neighbors in need.
*Custom packages available for most events.
In-Kind Sponsorships appreciated as needed.
Every spring, The Food Bank hosts an exciting fund raising event to support our mission. The event helps raise awareness of food insecurity in our region and engages guests to take part in preventing hunger in our community.
Every November, 93.9 The River’s Monte Belmonte leads his march against hunger. The radiothon encourages listeners to make donations to benefit The Food Bank as he marches 43 miles through western Massachusetts pushing an empty shopping cart.
Matching Gift Hour
Sponsorships begin at $1,000: Matching gift hour sponsorship includes live on-air mentions, Food Bank social media during the hour, recognition on The Food Bank website, and an opportunity to engage your company employees as Phone Bank volunteers and/or marchers during the event.
March with Monte
Supporters who collect $1,000 or more may join Monte and his crew for any portion of The March.
Help answer phones and process donations during the two days of The March. Many shifts are available, each lasting for only a few hours.
There are many opportunities to support financially The Food Bank’s programs and direct-to-neighbor services throughout the year. These programs include:
Mobile Food Bank
Our trucks deliver free, primarily fresh vegetables and groceries to dozens of sites across the four counties of western Massachusetts for immediate distribution to vulnerable residents.
Brown Bag: Food for Elders
We provide a free bag of healthy groceries to income-eligible seniors once a month at dozens of local senior centers and community organizations.
Our Nutrition staff provides healthy eating workshops, grocery store tours, and recipe taste testings using nutritious, low-cost food.
Member Agency Relations
We work with our member agencies — front line local food pantries and meal sites — to provide training opportunities on vital topics such as volunteer management, advocacy, client intake, disaster planning, food safety, nutrition and food sourcing. We also provide mini-grants for freezers, refrigerators, shelving and other items to strengthen their capacity to distribute more healthy food to more people.
While we can customize a volunteer opportunity for your company, here are a few examples of how you can prevent hunger in the community:
• Volunteer your time: Gather co-workers together to sort food in our warehouse or help at a special event.
• Volunteer your skills: Bring your unique skills to the table for a special project, including marketing, event planning, operations, strategic planning, facility management, etc.
• Host a canned food drive: It’s easy and anyone can participate. Once completed, you can deliver your collection when you come to The Food Bank for a volunteer shift.
Fund Drive/Independent Event
Hosting a fund drive or independent event places the power to make a difference directly in your hands. Every year, supporters of The Food Bank use their creativity to prevent hunger by hosting a variety of events.
Past fund raising events have included:
• percent of sales days
• golf tournament
• bake sales
• benefit concerts
• road races
Simply set your goal, provide the location, and use your imagination. We’ll help promote your event through our website, social media and e-newsletter.
Your support will be recognized in The Food Bank’s annual report (for events raising a minimum of $1,000) reaching thousands of donors, and on social media.
