2 Days. 3 Counties. 43 Miles. Fighting hunger, feeding hope.

Monday & Tuesday, November 23 & 24, 2020
Springfield to Greenfield, MA
Benefiting The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts

Each November, WRSI – 93.9 The River’s Monte Belmonte leads his annual Monte’s March against hunger through the Pioneer Valley. For those two days, Monte, Congressman Jim McGovern, Food Bank Executive Director Andrew Morehouse and a number of supporters, push empty shopping carts 43 miles from Springfield to Greenfield to raise awareness about and funds to prevent hunger in our region. Listeners are encouraged to make donations to benefit The Food Bank’s mission.

This year, our goal is to raise $365,000 – the equivalent of 4,000 meals per day for a whole year!

Fundraise to March with Monte

To ensure the safety of participants and our community, we are limiting the number of people who can March with Monte in 2020.

Two members from the Top 5 fundraising teams will be invited to March. Participants will be chosen based on fundraising totals on November 18th.

Registration FAQs

I don’t have a team. Can I register as an individual?

Yes. In this case, think of yourself as a team of one. Your fundraising total will be compared to that of other teams to determine the top qualifiers.

If I’m chosen to March, do I have to do the whole 43 miles?

No. Once Marchers have been chosen, team captains will have the opportunity to forfeit participation during all or part of the March. We will make every effort to offer forfeited positions to the next team in line.

Can I fundraise without Marching?

Yes! Virtual Marchers are an integral part of this event’s success. Please follow the steps to register. There is a spot for you to indicate your desired March participation during registration.

Is there a way for me to participate without fundraising?

Yes, we rely on volunteers to answer phones and take credit card donations throughout the event. Contact Amanda Reynolds, Senior Community Engagement Coordinator, for more information or to sign-up at AmandaR@foodbankwma.org

If my team is in the Top 5, which team members get to participate?

As long as safety regulations allow, the top five teams are guaranteed two spots in the march with Monte and there will be opportunities for other spots at a later date. Team captains will decide which of their team members will participate when. All Marchers must be at least 18 years-old or accompanied by a guardian.

What is the cost to sign up? Is there a minimum fundraising requirement?

There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising requirement. However, you must fundraise for a chance to March with Monte.
