Bank of America awards The Food Bank $50,000 grant to support Mobile Food Bank
Bank of America Foundation recently awarded The Food Bank with a $50,000 donation to support hunger relief efforts in the region. The corporation provided the funds for general operations that will allow our organization to distribute even more healthy, emergency food through its direct-to-participant Mobile Food Bank program.
“Bank of America is providing the equivalent of 200,000 healthy meals to households facing food insecurity.” said Andrew Morehouse, Executive Director of The Food Bank.
“Because of their generosity, individuals, and families in all four counties of the region will be able to pick up free, nutritious food from 27 Mobile Food Bank locations, and we couldn’t be more thankful.”
As the regional clearinghouse for emergency food, The Food Bank serves more than 89,000 food-insecure individuals monthly in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. In 2020, with the need for emergency food increasing due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, we increased food distribution by 27%, or 2.8 million meals. Financial support from corporate institutions like Bank of America, local businesses, and individual donors is allowing us to provide healthy emergency food when it is most needed.
