About 13% of Western Mass. residents are food insecure, a rate higher than any other food bank service area in the state.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts was founded in 1982. For 30 years, we have been working with our community to fight hunger in Western Mass.
Through a regional network of 300 independent food assistance agencies, The Food Bank has distributed enough food to provide more than 90 million meals over the course of our 30-year history. We are proud to have made such a difference in the lives of so many households in our community during this time.
In 2012, in honor of our 30th Anniversary and in recognition of the hard work that many Food Bank supporters, volunteers, staff, Board members, and partners have contributed since 1982, we will be sharing stories, accomplishments, and changes from our history.
Thank you for your role in helping us fight hunger for 30 years. We remain committed to serving Western Massachusetts for as long as we are needed into the future.
