Supervision: Brown Bag Program Manager
Compensation: Mileage from Food Bank to Brown Bag sites
Location:
Most of the work will take place in The Food Bank’s
Hatfield, MA office, with occasional travel to Brown Bag sites.
Internship description:
This internship will increase student's
awareness of hunger issues through involvement with
The Food Bank; provide direct service experience
working with emergency and non-emergency food
providers; provide experience in a non profit
environment. Academic credit can be arranged.
Background:
The Brown Bag for Elders Program is a monthly food
distribution program for low-income elders. Members
receive a bag of nutritious groceries each month
from a site within their community. 50 sites
currently exist serving more than 4500 households
each month.
Tasks Include:
Assist department with administrative, coordinative, and clerical tasks. Position includes data entry, filing, making phone calls, internet research, writing, event planning assistance, and field work.
Qualifications:
- General office skills
- Data entry and Microsoft Office
- Research
- Report preparation
- Good communication skills
- Event planning a plus
- Spanish language skills a plus
