Agency Services

The Food Bank's approximately 400 member agency programs consist of soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, childcare centers, elder programs, and other food assistance sites throughout Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. In conjunction with our warehouse and delivery departments, our Agency Services team offers a myriad of services to our member agencies to help feed those in need throughout our communities.

Brown Bag
Our Brown Bag team brings a monthly bag of nutritious food to elders in over 50 rural and urban communities throughout western Mass.   Volunteers are always welcome at Brown Bag sites!

Nutrition: Food Changes Lives
Our new and innovative nutrition education program, Food Changes Lives, will provide practical nutrition education and health benefits to thousands of low-income individuals across our region.

Target:Hunger
An exciting new project is happening in western Massachusetts under the guidance of The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts – one that could serve as a model for community-based change for sustainable solutions to the problems of hunger and unequal access to nutritious foods the United States. The project, Target:Hunger, is taking place in two pilot areas:  Mason Square, Springfield, our urban pilot community, and the seven towns of northern Berkshire County, our rural community. About 25 partners in each community have come together to create and implement plans that will reduce hunger by 10% in four years while increasing food security for everyone in those communities.  The results will be measured by research on hunger rates at the beginning and end of the project.  Partners include social service agencies, farmers, students, communities of faith, people personally affected by food security, government officials, statewide anti-hunger agencies, and concerned citizens.

The Food Bank Farm
The Food Bank Farm is a 60-acre, community- supported farm that provides 200,000 pounds of great organic produce to our member programs each year. Support the farm by buying a share of the harvest for your family.
