About 13% of Western Mass. residents are food insecure, a rate higher than any other food bank service area in the state.
The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts are proud to announce the Massachusetts’ 5th annual Legal Food Frenzy.
The “Legal Food Frenzy” is a 2-week long benevolent competition, open to all legal organizations, to raise funds and collect food items for food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters during a traditionally slow time for donations. It is a statewide program serving nearly 800 hunger-relief agencies.
All food and funds collected by the legal community in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire Counties will benefit The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to aid hungry families in our region. The Food Bank has the largest service areas in the state, serving more than 200,000 food insecure neighbors annually. In 2013, the Food Bank was able to distribute more than 8 million pounds of food to people struggling with food insecurity.
Last year, thanks to generous legal organizations, nearly 4,000 pounds of food and over $12,000 were collected to support The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Every $1 donated will help provide 3 meals for someone in need!
