Thirty communities in western Massachusetts have hunger rates that are six times higher than the statewide average.
December 12th will mark the first ever giving day in the Pioneer Valley. With nearly 270 area non-profits participating and more than $30,000 in grants, ValleyGives aims to be a way to bolster non-profit support and awareness in our community.
The Food Bank of Western Mass will be participating on 12.12.12. and you can view our official donations page here. (Any donations made on our own donation page that day will not count towards the ValleyGives total.) Just like any donation made to The Food Bank, the funds will go directly toward food distribution and outreach programs with far reaching effects in each of the four counties in Western Mass.
We encourage you to get involved on 12.12.12. and follow us on Facebook and Twitter where we will be giving updates and encouragement to our fellow non-profits throughout the day. If you would like more information about how ValleyGives works you can visit their website, read the artice from MassLive.com, or watch the YouTube video below.
Remember that every dollar donated to The Food Bank provides 3 meals to those struggling with hunger in our community. That’s nine dollars worth of food! Make a difference on 12.12.12!
