Among all client households served by The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, 71% are food insecure, according to the U.S. government’s official food security scale.
What could be better than strolling around Mountain View Farm on a crisp fall morning? Realizing that 100,000 pounds of food being harvested will be sent to The Food Bank for distribution to its member agencies. Ben Perrault and Liz Adler have been farming in Easthampton since 2005 and the dedication from both the workers and customers is striking. Even with nearly 3 inches of rain falling on September 18th, Mountain View still had over 90 eager customers picking up their share of fresh, organic produce.
